Environmental Protection and Sanitation

  • To protect and develop forests, water bodies, parks, and green areas in the municipal area.
  • To delineate the boundaries of the public lands within the municipal area and protect them with fences.
  • To establish nurseries of fast-growing tree seedlings and fruit and use them for planting trees on municipal and governmental land, public and community lands, riverbanks, and bare hills and protect them.
  • To maintain appropriate protection of water resources in watershed areas within the municipality.
  • To construct parks, picnic spots, walled gardens and open squares on public, community and governmental lands.
  • To construct Sanitation Treatment Plan to stop the mixing of safety tanks sewage of human settlements in local rivers.
  • To enforce the condition that two saplings (plants) shall be planted and protected while passing the blueprints / map of the new house. Similarly, to encourage the installation of a Fire Extinguisher to protect against possible fire while passing the map of the new house.
  • To manage the waste of the municipality in collaboration with the private sector. To segregate the waste from each house and make compost from the rotting waste.
  • To clean public places by keeping dustbin and plastic buckets.
  • To control and manage the unauthorized smuggling of sand, gravel, and stones from local rivers within the municipality.
  • To identify and minimize the risk of soil erosion, flood, and landslide within the municipal area.
  • To help to adapt/minimize the local impact of climate change.
  • To control land development and land plotting that adversely affect the environment, including greenery and water sources within the municipal area.
